Exclusive: Google’s Pixel Book Go specs leaked ahead of launch

Few days back, It was first reported that Google is planning to launch a new laptop named ‘Pixel book Go’ at its press event week on Oct’15.

Today, 9to5google posted several images of this upcoming laptop. As you can see from the images, the design of this laptop will be in line with other Google hardware that are available in the market.

Our sources have characterized this laptop as being a return to the more tried-and-true Chromebook, passing on things like the first Pixel book’s foldable 2-in-1 form factor, Pixel book Pen compatibility, and the Pixel Slate’s confusing keyboard attachment. Instead, the Pixel book Go is a portable and ergonomic clamshell laptop form.

During a Google Hardware-focused session at Google Cloud Next 2019 earlier this year, after a brief look back at the Pixel book and Pixel Slate, a presentation slide hinted at what was to come. “Now, our goal is to empower your agile, modern workforce to be productive on-the-go,” the slide read, suggesting a future Google laptop.

The Pixel book Go will have matte finish on the top and a unique, grippy bottom. It will come with a 13-inch display, an USB-C port, 3.5mm jack and a couple of far-field microphones with ‘Ok Google’ support.

Our sources indicate that the laptop is intentionally built for portability. Most notably, we’re told the Pixel book Go will be more subdued compared to the Pixel book and other laptops on the market, and one source said the bottom of the laptop has a “tactile feel” to make it easier to hold. It’s also as light or lighter than the original Pixel book, thanks to its “magnesium alloy,” we’re told. (Many of Microsoft’s Surface devices also have magnesium alloy bodies.)

Rumored Specs of Pixel book Go:

  • Intel Core m3, i5, and i7 configurations
  • Either 8GB or 16GB of RAM
  • 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB of storage
  • 2 front-firing speakers
