Huawei Mate X to start shipping from November 15

Huawei promised that it’ll launch its first foldable smartphone, the Mate X in October. True to its word, the Chinese manufacturer has launched its first foldable smartphone in China, with shipping starting from November 15.

Huawei’s 5G-enabled Mate X will be available at a price point of 16,999 yuan, which translates to $2,403. The price is slightly higher than that of its competitor, the Samsung Galaxy Fold.

It’s, however, still not clear as to when Huawei will launch the Mate X globally. Its global launch plan remains under review, Huawei said( via Reutars).

Huawei was supposed to launch the Mate X foldable smartphone back in June, but the Chinese tech giant later pushed the release date twice.

Interestingly enough, Huawei never mentioned the reason behind the delay in the launch, unlike Samsung. The US ban might have played its part in forcing Huawei to push the launch date. Rumor also has it that Huawei’s smartphone was not ready for prime time and hence the company was forced to push the launch date further.

The Mate X will come with the latest Kirin 990 processor, a camera with a TOF sensor, and a larger button to unfold the device.
